Steel structure at St Sava’s Temple

To create the mosaic in the central dome of the Temple of Saint Sava, Konstruktor developed a steel structure design solution that enabled the execution of all mosaic works in the dome while allowing the uninterrupted use of the interior space of the temple.

About the project

The technical specifications of the supporting steel structure and scaffolding with multiple working platforms inside the Temple of Saint Sava present unique challenges, primarily due to the specific setting in which the works are carried out, as well as the height at which the works take place.

The successful installation of all three pillars at elevation +42.90 m was completed in record time. The platform structure consists of three four-chord lattice girders in a single direction, with the central girder weighing 11 tons and the two side girders 10.5 tons each. This configuration formed the main load-bearing platform structure.

The overall position of Konstruktor’s management has always been that profit is not the sole purpose of every project. Accordingly, the decision was made to support the Serbian Orthodox temple by significantly reducing the total project cost compared to its market value.

Konstruktor believes that this was the least that could be done for such a monumental project of great importance to the wider community. This project thus stands as a unique example of Konstruktor’s corporate social responsibility—something we are particularly proud of.

The company takes great satisfaction in having contributed to the acceleration of the completion of the largest Orthodox temple in the region.
