Plaza Kragujevac
Konstruktor was engaged in the design and execution of the steel structure, as well as the cladding and roofing works on the complex. This included construction of the red roof, oval roof, roof lanterns, and various additional elements with a total steel weight of approximately 500 tons.
About the project
Red Roof
The red roof was supported by a wall at elevation +12.0 m and by concrete columns at +16.0 m and +17.5 m. The main semi-elliptical beams were made of HEA rolled steel profiles, spaced at 8.1 m intervals, and supported by two concrete columns and a wall. Purlins, designed as simply supported beams with an 8.1 m span, were made of box profiles and spaced at 2.05 m. They were connected at the third points with secondary beams following the roof’s curvature. The roof was braced with longitudinal and transverse trusses at the roof level. A prominent elliptical facade beam extended beyond the facade plane, made of box profiles, and stiffened with horizontal and vertical beams. The roof covering consisted of curved trapezoidal steel sheets over timber purlins, with thermal insulation, wooden boarding, and a final layer of plastic-coated red steel sheet.
Oval Roof
The oval roof had an elliptical footprint of 30.0 x 46.0 m. The main beams were steel trusses with a maximum span of 30 m, spaced at 6 m intervals. The lower chords were box sections 220×140 mm, the upper chords HEA 200 profiles, and the web members were also box sections. The trusses rested on steel columns anchored into a concrete beam at elevation +12.0 m. Purlins were simply supported beams of 6.0 m span, spaced at 2.2 m, also made of box profiles. A central longitudinal truss ran through the middle of the ellipse, with upper chords 200×120 mm, lower 220×140 mm, and diagonals 100×100 mm. The entire roof was stiffened with horizontal and vertical bracing. The roofing system included steel trapezoidal sheets, with thermal and waterproofing layers. The interior was lined with gypsum boards.
Lanterns
The roof lanterns were designed as simply supported beams spanning 8.1 to 9.5 m and up to 16.3 m, placed at 2.1 m intervals. The main supports were made of IPE and HEA rolled profiles.
Other Structures
In addition to the above, several other steel structures were installed, bringing the total steel weight to around 500 tons.
Konstruktor executed all works on a turnkey basis, from design to final assembly, adhering to the highest quality standards at a technically demanding location.
